Our first collaboration...
Collabriculture's first project is the Open Vineyard Data Model. This project brings together a broad group of stakeholders and GIS experts to work out how to meaningfully describe vineyard attributes such as posts, trellis wires, vines, rows, and blocks in a way that will allow digital vineyard maps to be created, stored, and shared.
Accurate digital maps are the critical first building block for turning all the data being collected and curated for farms into something farmers can put to practical use — so Collabriculture is entirely based on and committed to global open geospatial standards to ensure that farmers have unmediated access to maps of farms. The objective is to make vineyard mapping commonplace, standardised, and 'FAIR': Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable.
We're excited about the potential this will unlock for growers and innovators, and we hope you are too!
